american academy of aesthetic medicine ~ diploma

Just underwent a post-graduate diploma course held by the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine.

It was a grueling course, expounding deeply into the various aspects of aesthetic medicine, such as botox, fillers, lasers, pigmentation, acne scars, stretch marks, cellulite, hair regrowth, etc. Geez, I was tired at the end of it, but I gained so much new insights thereafter! It’s amazing what new perspectives you can obtain when you go through apparently old stuff that you think you already know. As the Chinese saying goes, 温故知新 and 三人行,必有我师。No matter how experienced one is, there is always something new to learn or refresh your knowledge in. 🙂 (Plus, doctors love to get together and share practices. XD)

I even tried some treatments on myself, such as sclerotherapy for the blue veins I inherited from housemanship and mesotherapy for the bit of hair I lost after pregnancy. 😦 I must say it’s only day 3 of treatment and my veins already look 90% better. I’ll keep an eye on the hair regrowth and update this space later, since they may take a while to work.

The best thing about it was the people I met there, such as the president of AAAM Dr Michel Delune, Dr Marcelo Suarez from Chicago, a very sweet lady dr whom I also met at a previous AAAM course and many others. 🙂

As a side note, I find my marionette lines shorter in this pic, after my recent Thermage treatment! See here. I didn’t even set the Thermage treatment very high, for fear of the pain since I did it without numbing cream. I think the trick is to repeat the passes many times to obtain better results at lower settings – only thing is that it takes a longer time for the doctor to perform it. Also, if you start early, it works better as the skin is still very much able to respond in new collagen production and tightening.

And at the end of it, a beautiful certificate as proof of my continual efforts to upkeep and improve my knowledge, for betterment of all my patients! 🙂 It’s important to keep abreast of the latest developments in this fast-changing field of aesthetic medicine, so that I can always recommend the most suitable treatments to help my patients look awesome and regain confidence.

Finally, what’s life without some selfies? 😀
